The Observations screen on the mobile app, allows a manager to start a new observation. An observation contains one or more free text or multiple choice questions and is used by a manager to assess the progress of a reportee. 

A manager might carry out

 for each of their reportees at regular intervals, to assess their performance and provide constructive feedback on how they can improve in the future. An observation can be viewed retrospectively by both the manager and reportee.

For example, a reportee might lack specific knowledge essential for performing safely at work, such as food hygiene standards needed when working in a kitchen. The manager might assess the reportee and then suggest ways in which they can fill that gap in their knowledge, such as taking a course.

Starting an observation

To start an observation on the Fuse mobile app:

  1. In the New observation section, tap the reportee you want to observe.

  2. Tap an existing observation template.

    A list of sections in the observation appear. Each section contains a different set of questions that you must answer. Each section might contain questions related to a different category. For example - Performance, Progress, Team Work, Improvements, and so on.

  2. Answer the questions in each section of the observation.

    When a section has been completed, a tick symbol is displayed next to it.

  3. When you have answered all the questions in all available sections, tap Submit

  4. In the top-right corner of the screen, tap Finish session.

  2. [Optional] If necessary, in the Add final thoughts field, enter any final comments. For example, you might want to provide an overall summary of the reportee and their progress, as well as where they might improve in the future.
