You can view Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and PDFs that you have been uploaded, directly in Fuse using the document viewer.

Currently, Fuse comes with two document viewers:

  • New document viewer: Allows you to open and view open XML Microsoft files directly in Fuse, including DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX, and PDF.
  • Legacy document viewer: Allows you to view older, non-open XML Microsoft files directly in Fuse, including DOC, XLS, PPT, and PDF.
Info

If both the legacy and new document viewers are enabled at the same time, the following will occur:

  • If you upload a non-open XML Microsoft file, Fuse automatically defaults to the legacy document viewer.
  • If you upload an open XML Microsoft file, Fuse automatically defaults to the new document viewer.

Replacing older Microsoft files with open XML versions

DOC, XLS, and PPT files cannot be viewed in the new document viewer. If you have existing DOC, XLS, and PPT files in Fuse, we recommended replacing them with open XML versions.

Info

When you update an existing file with a new version, the Fuse content ID associated with that file remains the same.

This can be done in the following way:

  1. Download the DOC, XLS, or PPT file from Fuse.
    Image Modified
  2. Save it as a PPTX, XLSX or DOCX on your computer.

    Info

For example, if the file is a DOC file, save it as a DOCX.
