When you first upload a video, Fuse automatically extracts an English transcript, which users can view as subtitles on top of the video. If you are the content owner or an admin, you can upload additional transcripts in other languages, as well as edit existing ones on the video's Edit content screen.

Info
You can also display the transcripts beside the video and specify jump points, which enable users to skip ahead to certain points in the video, by enabling the Display "Jump to" tab option. For more information, see Using the "Jump to" tab

Automatically generated transcriptions

When you upload a video to Fuse, the video is processed and automatically transcribed. The extracted transcript is turned into subtitles which can be played on top of the video.

Info

The transcription functionality in Fuse only has the ability to translate audio to English

If a video has been transcribed, a Last converted date is displayed on the Edit content screen for the video, as shown below:

If the video was not transcribed automatically, click Convert on the Edit content screen, to manually trigger the transcription.

Uploading your own transcripts

If you have pre-made transcripts, you can add them directly to the video, by uploading an .SRT file. For example, you might want to have subtitles in other languages, such as German, French, Spanish, Italian and so on.

When uploading .SRT files, you must use the correct naming convention. The file must be named with the correct language code, as shown inFuse's supported languages list. For example, if you were uploading an .SRT file which includes French subtitles, the .SRT file must be named "fr-FR".

Info

Once the .SRT file has been uploaded, you can change the label so that it is more human readable. For example, you might change fr-FR to Francais
