When you first upload a video to Fuse, Fuse automatically extracts an English language transcript is extracted, which users can view is viewable as subtitles on top of the video. If you are the content owner or an admin, you can upload additional transcripts in other languages, as well as edit existing ones transcripts on the video's Edit content screen.

You can also display the transcripts beside the video and specify jump points, which enable users to skip ahead to certain points in the video, by enabling the Display "Jump to" tab option setting. For more information, see Using the "Jump to" tab

Automatically generated transcriptions

When you upload a video to Fusevideo that features English language audio, the video is processed and automatically transcribed. The extracted transcript is turned converted into subtitles which can be played on top of the video.

The Fuse's transcription functionality in Fuse only has the ability to can only translate audio to English. If you want to add transcriptions in other languages, you must manually upload a .SRT file. For information on how to do this, see the Uploading your own transcripts section below. 

If a video has been transcribed, a 'Last converted' date is displayed on the Edit content screen for the video, as shown below:

 If the your English language video was has not been transcribed automatically, click Convert on the Edit content screen, to manually trigger the transcription. 

Uploading your own transcripts

If you have pre-made transcripts, you You can add them directly to the video, your own transcripts to a video by uploading an .SRT filefiles. For example, you might want to have subtitles in other languagesmany of the languages that are supported in Fuse, such as German, French, Spanish, Italian and so on.

When uploading .SRT files

If you want to upload your own English language subtitles, you must delete the autogenerated English .SRT file before uploading your own.

When you upload a .SRT file, you must use the correct naming convention. The file must be named with the correct language code, as shown in in Fuse's supported languages list. For example, if you were are uploading an a .SRT file which includes containing French subtitles, the .SRT file must be named "'fr-FR"'

Once the .SRT file has been uploaded, you can change the label so that it is more human readable. For example, you might change fr-FR to Francais

To upload an .SRT file:

  1. On the Edit content screen for your video, click Add a subtle file.

  2. Locate and select the .SRT file on your computer. 
  3. Click Open.
    The .SRT file is added to the Subtitles list.
  4. (Optional) If necessary, you can alter the label so that it is more human readable. For example, you might change fr-FR to Francais
  5. At the bottom of the screen. click Save

    The subtitles are added to the video and can be selected . Users can select the subtitles in the Closed Captions menu menu, in the Fuse Player settings.

Editing transcripts 

You can edit the text in transcripts of a transcript directly in Fuse. You can remove text, add text to existing lines and make corrections. 

To edit a transcript:

  1. On the Edit content screen, in the Subtitles section, click the Edit icon next to the relevant transcript. 

    The Edit transcript popup appears. 
  2. You can edit, add and remove text from any of the lines in the transcript. 
  3. When you have finished making any the necessary alterations, click Save.

To show subtitles on a video: 

  1. Go to the Content homepage for the video.

  3. On the Fuse Player, click the Settings icon.

Deleting a transcript

To delete a transcript 

  1. On the Edit content screen, in the Subtitles section, click the Delete icon next to the relevant transcript. 

    The Are you sure you want to delete subtitle? popup appears.  
  2. Click Ok.
    The transcript is removeddeleted from the Subtitles list. 
  3. At the bottom of the screen. click Save

Showing subtitles while playing a video

To show subtitles while playing a video: 

  1. Go to the Content homepage for the video.
