A formal way of testing a user's knowledge. A scored assessment in which the user is given a final mark at the end. Formal assessments consist of multiple-choice questions, with either one or many correct answers that can be marked by the system. Admins can limit the number of times a formal assessment can be taken, as well as set an expiry date by which the assessment must be completed. Once a user has finished viewing a topic, they must take the formal assessment by clicking the Take formal assessment button on the topic homepage.

For information on how to create a formal assessment, see Creating a formal assessment.

Only formal assessments can be taken on the Fuse mobile app. For more information on how to take an assessment on the Fuse mobile app, see Taking a formal assessment on the mobile app.

All other assessment types must be taken in the browser.
