This section includes information about the new Fuse search. If you are currently using Fuse's legacy search, see Legacy search.

For information on how to search in the browser version of Fuse, see Searching in Fuse.

Performing a search

To search in the Fuse mobile app:

  1. At the bottom of the screen, tap the search icon.

    The search bar appears.
  2. Tap inside the search bar and enter your query.

Only certain special characters are supported when searching in Fuse. If you enter unsupported special characters, Fuse automatically removes them from the query. For a list of supported special characters, see here.
  3. Tap the search icon or tap Search on the keyboard of your mobile device.
A list of available content is returned.

In some cases, if Fuse perceives that the entered phrase or keyword contains spelling errors, Fuse automatically searches for the correct spelling. You can quickly switch back to the originally entered spelling by tapping it. Fuse may also offer suggestions for similar or alternate terms you could search for.

Search results, filters and facets are displayed in the language selected in your profile. For more information, see Can I search for content in multiple languages?.

  4. [Optional] If necessary, you can apply filters to narrow down the search results.
    To apply filters:
    1. Tap Filters

      The Filter dropdown appears.
    2. Expand a type or category and select the appropriate filter(s).

The search results automatically narrow down based on the selected filters.
  5. When you have found the item you are looking for, tap on it to view it.

To clear a currently selected filter option, you can:

    • Deselect the checkbox next to the filter option.

    • Tap the x next to the selected option above the search results.

Natural language search and query snapping

Fuse uses natural language search to make it easier for you to find the content you are looking for. In some cases, Fuse intuitively adds filters to search results based on what you have searched for. This is known as query snapping.

For example, if you search for 'fire safety articles by Edward Francis', Fuse might apply the following filters to the search results automatically:

  • Articles: Filters the search results to only show articles.
  • Community: Selects the community that features 'Fire Safety' in the name.
  • Author: Filters to only show articles authored by the user 'Edward Francis'.
  • TagsApplies any preexisting tags, for example, Fuse might apply tags for 'Fire', 'Safety', and 'Fire Safety'.
