You might see dummy topics on insights and in reports in Universal Analytics. Dummy topics are used to group free-standing items of content that do not currently exist inside a topic, on insights and reports that show data related to topics. Dummy topics only exist in Universal Analytics and do not actually exist in Fuse.

Ideally, dummy topics should be filtered out of insights to give an accurate view at topic level. In some cases it may be useful to keep dummy topics on display. For example, you might want to compare engagement in dummy topics vs real topics. This allows you to see if content engagement increases or decreases when content is included in topics or is simply uploaded to Fuse.

A dummy topic may appear more than once if the content within it has been interacted with prior to being added to the topic.
